Comic illustration created for the Festival of Illustration's 'Stories of Home' exhibition. This one-page comic is based on me and my sister leaving the local takeaway and driving home, a small routine moment from returning to the town I grew up in. I created the illustration as a commentary on working-class culture through ordinary, recognisable scenes that aren’t typically featured in visual storytelling. I wanted to challenge those conventions and show that something as mundane as visiting the kebab shop can carry meaning. It’s about home, identity, and the separation that develops from moving away from a small working-class town.
